Janet McHenry
LOCATION
Janet McHenry has experienced God's renewal in her life through the practices of prayerwalking and the daily refreshment found in God's Word. A national speaker and the author of 27 books, she is best known for her bestselling book PrayerWalk: Becoming a Woman of Prayer, Strength and Discipline. She has also written several Bible studies and seven other books on prayer, including The Complete Guide to the Prayers of Jesus.
Janet's business name is Looking Up! because she loves encouraging others to turn to God through a praying lifestyle. Her prayerwalking has been featured in magazines such as Health and Woman’s Day, and she has been interviewed widely on radio, television, and podcasts about prayer and prayerwalking. She is on the state leadership team for the National Day of Prayer and serves as NDP coordinator for Sierra County. Janet also has served as the prayer ministries coordinator for The Bridge Church in Reno for about 18 years.
A graduate of UC Berkeley, Janet is married to her high school sweetheart, Craig, and they have raised their four children in the Sierra Valley, where he is a beef cattle rancher and where they love kayaking on nearby mountain lakes. Formerly an English teacher and academic advisor, Janet enjoys walking in her little town of Loyalton with her Personal Trainer, Jesus, and gathering friends in her home. A certified life and writing coach, Janet hosts the Sierra Valley Writers Retreat each spring and fall and speaks at writers' conferences around the country. She also is the community manager for the She Writes for Him Tribe of Redemption Press.
